PROJECT BUDGET $83,915

30+ FARMERS IMPACTED

Regenerative Agroforestry Training in Manabí

This Global Grant focuses on training farmers in Manabí, Ecuador, to implement syntropic agroforestry systems—a regenerative approach that restores soil health, increases biodiversity, and boosts long-term income stability. The goal is to equip farmers with the skills and knowledge to establish small demonstration plots that can serve as future learning models for other communities.

Supporting Farmers in the Short Term

Farmers already grow fruit trees such as cocoa, avocado, and mango, providing them with ongoing income. This project will not disrupt existing livelihoods, but instead increase yields and resilience through improved agroforestry practices. All current and future production is aimed at established markets, primarily local, with some commodities. While future programs may explore value-added products and reducing intermediaries, this Global Grant focuses on strengthening the production side. Short-cycle crops—such as corn, yucca, squash, and passionfruit—will be integrated between tree rows, providing farmers with continuous short-term income while long-term crops mature. Bananas yield within 10–18 months, cacao in 5 years, avocados and mangoes in 4–6 years, and timber in 8–25 years, creating a balanced income timeline.

Medium-Term Outcomes

Long-Term Outcomes

This Global Grant represents the first phase of a larger vision: empowering farmers through regenerative education, strengthening their livelihoods, and restoring the land for generations to come.
